Senior Patrol Leader

Appointed by the Scoutmaster
Reports to the Scoutmaster
Term is 6 months (or 1 year at the Scoutmaster's request)
Duties:
  • In charge of troop meetings, PLC meetings, and all troop activities
  • Does everything he can to help each patrol be successful
  • Work closely with the Scoutmaster in developing the troop program
  • Work closely with the Scoutmaster in training scouts to carry out their leadership positions
  • Set the tone for good Scout behavior by being a good example for other scouts
  • Encourage proper wearing of the uniform by wearing the uniform correctly at all times
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law
  • Show and help develop Scout spirit

 

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Help lead meetings and activities as called upon by the senior patrol leader
  • Guide the troop in the senior patrol leader’s absence
  • Perform tasks assigned by the senior patrol leader
  • Set the tone for good Scout behavior by being a good example for other scouts
  • Encourage proper wearing of the uniform by wearing the uniform correctly at all times
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law
  • Show and help develop Scout spirit


Patrol Leader

Elected by the members of the patrol
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Lead patrol meetings and activities
  • Assign patrol member tasks and help them succeed
  • Show and help develop patrol spirit


Assistant Patrol Leader

Appointed by the Patrol Leader
Reports to the Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Help lead meetings and activities as called upon by the patrol leader
  • Guide the patrol in the patrol leader’s absence
  • Perform tasks assigned by the patrol leader


Troop Guide

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Help younger Scouts understand how to do things the troop way
  • Help younger Scouts learn basic skills
  • Coach the patrol leader of the younger Scout patrols


Den Chief

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Serve as the activities assistant at den meetings.
  • Project a positive image of Boy Scouting and Troop 44.


Librarian

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Establish and maintain a troop library.
  • Keep records on literature owned by the troop.
  • Have literature available for borrowing at troop meetings.
  • Maintain a system to check literature in and out.


Quartermaster

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Work with adult equipment manager to keep equipment in good order
  • Keep storage area neat and clean
  • Issue tents at campouts and make sure they are returned in good order.


Scribe

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Take attendance at all troop meetings, activities and campouts
  • Take notes at meetings.


Instructor

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Teach scouting skills
  • Help scouts earn bronze stars
  • Prepare skill lessons and teach at troop meetings


Leave No Trace Trainer

Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader
Reports to the Senior Patrol Leader
Duties:
  • Have a good understanding of Leave No Trace.
  • Successfully complete the Leave No Trace Trainer training course.
  • Help the troop practice Leave No Trace on campouts.

 

Junior Assistant Scoutmaster

Appointed by the Scoutmaster
Reports to the Scoutmaster
Duties:
  • Function as an assistant Scoutmaster
  • Help the Scoutmaster build and deliver the Scout program.
