Leadership Duties

First, a reminder about the leadership requirement for rank advancement:

Star Scout Requirement #5: While a First Class Scout, serve actively in your troop for four months in a position of responsibility.
Life Scout Requirement #5: While a Star Scout, serve actively in your troop for six months in a position of responsibility.
Eagle Scout Requirement #4: While a Life Scout, serve actively in your troop for six months in a position of responsibility.

Secondly, it is important to know that a Scout should carry out his leadership duties to the best of his abilities. Upon being offered and accepting a leadership position, the Scout will receive a contract document that he will need to sign. The contract provides a list of duties that the Scout must agree to performing as part of his leadership role. The Scout will sign the contract agreeing to the offer. The contract will also be signed by the Senior Patrol Leader and the Scoutmaster. The contract serves as an agreement between all signers. Periodically, the Scoutmaster and Senior Patrol Leader will assess if the Scout is living up to the agreement. If the Scout is not performing at the best of his abilities, the Scout will lose his leadership position.
